News:
11.20.03
Nimages development is suspended until about July or so of next year.
I'm studying in Japan until then, and I have all of my standard classes, plus
4 other websites / coding projects going on. If anyone wants to continue
developming Nimages, please send me an email and I'll give you the latest sources, along with what I have of a major
rewrite I was doing to the base of the program. In the mean time, check out
some of my projects:
2.17.03
Added a new demo to show off the web-based installation.
You'll find it toward the bottom of the demo page.
2.15.03
Nimages isn't dead!
I know it's been a while, but I promise nimages hasn't died. School is making me pretty busy, and I'm having to do a lot of stuff for a study abroad program I'm
in for next year. Basically I haven't had time to even think about nimages.
I have, though, decided to make my cvs server publicly accessable from the
web. From
this server, you will be able to access the latest nimages code almost as soon
as I write it.
Because of this, please realize that the cvs version will be even more unstable
than any beta releases.
I've decided to open this server up to let people watch how nimages progresses.
If you're never used cvs before, it's really a great system. You'll be able
to see exactly which files were modified, along with a history log. If you
feel so inclined, you will even be able to download the very first version of
nimages. Not that I'd recomend it, but it might be fun to look at.
1.17.03
Added some screenshots of the admin section to the demos page.
Modified theme support to make it easier to understand for the novice programmer.
I've added a two new sections, "Themes" and "FAQ". There is current nothing under
FAQ, but the Themes section has a theme to show how to make themes for the final version.
Please remember, if you make any themes for any of the alpha version of Nimages, you
will definately have to alter the themes to work with the new version. Also, this
next version will require a complete re-installation. I've changed many of the
configuration variables, and even added and removed some.
Work has been started on the administration section of Nimages. This is going faster
than I had suspected, so a new version might be out before next month. At least in
the next version, there will be support to edit, delete, and upload images. And
hopefully even support to edit, add, and remove galleries. Finally the multiple
galleries option will do something! w00t!
12.19.02
Finished with theme support and am currently documenting and debugging it.
Added three demos on the demo page showing the flexibility of the theme system.
If you want to make a theme to be included in the final version of nimages, please email me. This version isn't secure or finished enough to be released into the wild, but hopefully soon a new version will be.
10.13.02
Completed Public Preview Release 1. This newest version includes (at last) adding descriptions to images. Unfortunately, you can only add descriptions during the initial configuration, but it's a start. This version also includes some code cleanup, and some theme bug fixes. As for themes, if you want to create some, there is currently no decent documentation for this. Contact me and we'll work something out.
ALSO! If you download and install this version, be ready to have to completely remove your installation to upgrade to a new version. This software is still in the early stages, and the config files are changing formats often. Just a warning...
10.10.02
Added a demo Nimages site as requested. Pretty good idea, so you guys know what you're actually getting. This is using the default template, and I've just discovered a bug in the template that I'll hafta fix when I get back from classes. Have fun!
10.09.02
(Later)
Decided to go ahead and release Alpha 3 right now. Changes include:
Added theme system
Split config files into nimages_conf.php, nimages_conf_galleries.php, nimages_conf_users.php, nimages_conf_comments.php, and nimages_conf_templates.php. (thinking about having them go into a conf directory...gimme your input about this.)
If you can decypher my template (theme) system, please write some cool ones and I'll include them!
The next version should include a basic Control Panel for editing image information, and better (some?) documentation reguarding sorting and themes. Grab you copy of Alpha 3 and let me know how it goes!
10.09.02
Theme support nearly completed. The word "template" doesn't do justice to what you can do with it. Almost all hard-coded displaying functions have been replaced with a themeing system. I am looking to distribute 1.0 final with at least 3 themes. If you (so someone you know) has programming experience (however little) and likes making themes or skins, send me an email and let me know if you'd like to work on some themes. If i get bored (we're talking really bored here) I might make a theme editor.
Look for alpha 3 to be coming out in the next week or so. It will have at least the theme support, along with probably some aspect of a control panel.
New version!
Nimages alpha2 is released! Updates include:
Working MySQL support
Coherent config files (still automatically made!)
Random Image Preview in gallery listing
Sorting of images by name, filename, id, date and a few other random ones (want to sort your image by width? go for it..)
Bugfixes, bugfixes, bugfixes!
Download alpha2 now and let me know how it goes!
